The Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado is being flooded with phone calls about a garbage and rubbish removal company called Elite Waste & Recycle. Consumers are telling us their trash is not being picked up, even though they have paid for the service one year in advance.

Phone calls to Elite Waste, a company based in Palmer Lake, are going directly to a voice mail box, which is full. As a result, we have been unable to get a response from the company. Elite Waste’s phone number is 719-488-2111.

One concern is that consumers will incur fines by home owners associations for not having the rubbish removed. It is the consumers’ responsibility to make sure their trash is removed.

The other issue is the drought we are currently experiencing and the potential for the ignition of fire.

According to the Colorado Springs City Clerk’s Office, Elite Waste’s license expired on April 30, 2006.

The company is not a member of the BBB of SC and requests for basic information about this company have not been answered by Elite Waste.

Consumers who wish to file a complaint may go to our Web site at www.bbbsc.org. The BBB of SC has also alerted the El Paso County District Attorney’s Office to make them aware of the situation.
