The Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado’s torch logo serves as an incredibly effective marketing tool throughout Southern Colorado. That’s why we take it seriously when we learn that a company is displaying our logo without authorization.

Currently a company by the name of Wheel Barrow Landscapes is going door-to-door handing out business cards that display the BBB Torch logo. Wheel Barrow Landscapes is not a member of the Better Business Bureau. A consumer in the Colorado Springs area paid this company with a check made out in the name of John Clark.

Not only is the BBB logo being used fraudulently in this business card, it is displayed incorrectly. In order to use our torch logo, members are required to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • The BBB name and logo may not be altered in any way or used in a manner that is inconsistent with the terms outlined in the Member Identification Program (MIP) agreement. BBB MIP members must use the following text in advertising: Member, Southern Colorado. To maintain consistency, the BBB logo may be reproduced in black only.

  • Southern Colorado member companies may only use the BBB logo within the service area. Counties included are: Alamosa, Baca, Bent, Chaffee, Cheyenne, Conejos, Costilla, Crowley, Custer, El Paso, Fremont, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Huerfano, Kiowa, Kit Carson, Las Animas, Lincoln, Mineral, Otero, Prowers, Pueblo, Rio Grande, Saguache and Teller.
  • For yellow pages advertising, the publisher requires authorization before accepting any advertisement bearing the BBB logo.
  • BBB member companies may not display the BBB logo or name on the Internet. A separate program, called BBBOnLine, is designed for the Web.
  • If a company’s MIP membership is ever suspended or revoked, it must immediately cease all advertising using the BBB logo.

If your organization has any questions concerning the use of the BBB logo or you become aware of a company you believe might be using it without authorization, please call Rebecca Herrera, director of operations at 719/636-5076 Ext. 116 or toll free at 866/206-1094 Ext. 116.

“It’s just good business.”
