The Better Business Bureau ®of Southern Colorado has received reports from consumers about a company called Southern Colorado Insurance. According to former clients, this insurance company, which had been located at 2221 West Northern Avenue in Pueblo, is now closed and the owners Vanessa Salinas and Juan Ortega have not been found. One Pueblo resident had her automobile insurance policy cancelled after she had already paid her policy premium to Southern Colorado Insurance. When she went to visit her agent, she found that the office was locked and empty. The Pueblo Police Department says that Salinas and Ortega vacated the premises in November 2005. Bristol West, in Davie, Florida is the parent company of Southern Colorado Insurance and has no information about the whereabouts of Salinas and Ortega. However, they have informed the Bureau that the victim’s auto insurance has been reinstated. The Colorado Division of Insurance in Denver has opened an investigation of the company. Mitch Lovett is conducting the investigation and can be reached at 303-894-2374. As always, we encourage consumers to call their local Better Business Bureau before doing business with a company to check the company’s reliability. |
