Amy Nofziger, Program Leader

Amy has been with the AARP Foundation’s ElderWatch program since the inception of the program in 2001. Prior to becoming Program Leader, Amy was the Program Coordinator. She came to AARP Foundation after working at one of the country’s most prestigious art festivals coordinating programs, volunteers and outreach. Amy is responsible for overall program management and operations, including consumer outreach, marketing and promotions, volunteer management, technological coordination, grant management, and strategic partnerships. Currently, Amy is the chairperson of the advisory board for the Colorado Coalition for Elder Rights and Abuse Prevention (CCERAP). She has presented to close to 30,000 seniors and professionals on various consumer issues. Amy has a degree in criminology/sociology from Ohio University, a certificate in gerontology from the University of Denver, and is a trained mediator. She is a graduate of Regis University with her Master of Arts degree with specialization in Leadership studies. Amy was recognized as one of the Denver Business Journal’s 2011 Top Forty under 40 leaders. Currently, she is a member of the 2012 Denver Leadership class. Amy volunteers with various cancer awareness causes, including a position on the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance’s board, day chair position of Project Valentine, and is a trainer for Survivors Teaching Students program at a local medical school.

Julie Mangum, Senior Program Assistant

Julie came to AARP’s ElderWatch Program with nearly two decades of administrative support experience. She worked in non-profit organizations for much of this time. In her various roles, Julie has served at-risk youth, offenders in the justice system and those in hospice care. At ElderWatch, Julie manages all the budgets and programming needs of our grant funded programs. In addition, Julie works regularly with our cadre of dedicated volunteers. With a nearly 80 year old mother living close by, AARP’s dedication to offering services improving one’s quality of life has a personal relevance to Julie. Julie volunteers in a variety of community programs including the Colorado Prayer Luncheon, Colorado Bright Beginnings (which she found through AARP’s Create the Good website), and Every Creature Counts.

Allison Carver- Senior Program Specialist

Allison Carver is the Senior Program Specialist for the AARP ElderWatch program. Prior to joining the ElderWatch team in 2008; Allison was a policy analyst for Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration, worked in the Florida Legislature, and was a case manager for adults with developmental disabilities. However, Allison grew to love AARP while completing her graduate internship with AARP Florida. Allison specializes in coordination of; education outreach, in-office/ field volunteer management, ElderWatch’s online presence, community partnerships/ collaborations, and ElderWatch events. She also oversees the new Benefits Quick Link location in the Denver Metro area. Allison has a degree in International Affairs and Political Science from Florida State University and plans to continue her graduate studies here in Colorado. .

Robert (Bob) Mager- Program Specialist

Bob received a BS in Business Administration from The State University of New York at Albany. He received his MBA from Widner University, Chester, PA. He spent nearly 20 years in Human Resources with Sun Oil Company. He took an early retirement and moved to Colorado to open his own business, a Goodyear Store. He was one of the AARP Foundation ElderWatch Program’s first Fraud Fighter volunteers in the Denver Call Center. He found this so rewarding that when a new part-time position came available in Denver, he applied, got the job, and thus started his 3rd career! He recruits “Fraud Fighter” volunteers from around Colorado as well as represents AARP ElderWatch at various community events. He is making a difference and having fun at the same time.

Bob Toye, Program Specialist

Bob Toye, Program Specialist, joined the AARP Foundation in 2009 after six years with AARP’s State Operations Group, where he served as the national liaison for AARP’s Chapters and Information Centers programs. In his current ElderWatch assignment, Bob manages the outbound Consumer Fraud Prevention Call Center, with responsibility for day-to-day operations as well as volunteer recruiting, training and supervision. Prior to AARP, Bob spent 12 years with TelecomPioneers Association, most recently as director of partnerships and programs for this international organization of active and retired telecommunications employee volunteers. Bob enjoys traveling, photography and social media, and is busy “getting the band back together” to perform at his 43rd high school reunion this summer. Bob is a graduate of St. John’s University.
