Volunteer Description: Call Specialist (CS)
Program: AARP ElderWatch is designed to create a statewide clearinghouse and reduce the financial exploitation of Colorado’s elder population.
Mission: To ensure that no older person is left to suffer, alone and in silence, at the hands of those who exploit them.
Purpose of position: to take calls on the statewide hotline, to listen to alleged complaints or concerns of elder fraud and to record written documentation of these calls.
Responsibilities of position:
Qualifications: · Enjoy working with people · Ability to listen and communicate effectively with others · Comfortable using telephone system · Ability to take clear and concise documentation · Computer data entry experience is helpful, but not required
Time Required: The CS must commit to working one 4 hour shift weekly, for a 4 month period.
Training Required: The CS must acquire working knowledge of telephone system and documentation procedures associated with program, and basic orientation of AARP. A 6 hour training class will be provided in addition to on-the-job training.
Travel Required: Trainings, primarily.
Working relations: The CS works closely with the staff of the AARP ElderWatch office, the Consumer Protection Unit of the Colorado Attorney General and other AARP staff.
